Hello All,
first off let me apologize if this has been developed/requested before but I could not find what I was looking for in the forums.
What I'd love is a small app to keep track of my music library, but not actually a player. I already have winamp and songbird on my external hard drive but very little music on it. I keep all my music (roughly 17000 tracks) on my home pc. Is there already an app where I could export my latest library file from winamp/itunes to my usb stick and be able to browse what I already have (by artist, album, title etc) in a similar way to itunes?
This would be really helpful as I often end up downloading songs more than once or need to check if I have a song/album.
thanks,
colonel
I have a small freeware program called cathy (59kb in size).
It indexed approximately 15,000 mp3 files in about 10 seconds and creates a searchable single database file - in this example it is about 560 kb.
You can check it out here:

If you like it, you can request someone to make a launcher for it.
What a nifty little program. Looks like exactly what the OP was looking for (although I don't know how similar it is to iTunes!). Keeps track of drives by their serial numbers, interestingly.
Launcher available on request
I've tried a bunch of different directory listing programs, and found a program called Dir Lister 0.9.1 that satisfies my operational needs and give a pleasing result.
For my purposes, I have it make the HTML with filename (no extension), filesize, filedate. It makes headers, alternate colored lines, and permits changing the fonts and typesizes. I have it make the HTML file and use FirefoxPortable to do the searching.
Dir Lister 0.9.1 is free for non-commercial use. Later versions are no longer freeware.
Dir Lister does write to the registry, so it would need a launcher.
