Hi.
Would it be possible, in a future release of PortableApps.com platform, to add an option into the PortableAppsMenu.ini file to specify where the "Music" etc links in the menu should point?
Because, I don't like having "Music" and "Videos" inside my "Documents" folder. I'd rather have them side by side in the root of the drive - similar to how Windows Vista and 7 do it. So it would be really useful for me if I could specify the paths to these folders.
Cheers,
Robin.
Well, the R34 Mod lets you rename those folders and point them to other places, so you could just do that. Rename Documents to "Home folder" or something like that. It does have a bug where it points to Video and the folder is called Videos, not sure if they fixed it or not, but you might have to learn how to use the feature to get up and running anyway. I did. It's all in the GUI though, easy stuff, in many ways it's like how the real PortableApps.com menu will be in a year or two. Wouldn't use it if the real menu had categories, as I absolutely need them at home, but I have 2.0 beta 3 on the flash drive, where I don't need categories (and not sure I want them) and I'm using a Rock Band theme I couldn't get to work with 1.5.2/R34.
If you're using 1.5.2 anyway, R34 is what you want. Not sure if the feature you want will ever be implemented in the official menu -- I've not heard anything about doing it. We had someone who wanted to turn his Videos folder into an eBooks folder and made the same request, but nothing really came from it.
Where can I get Mod R34? I can't see it anywhere. Cheers.
You can get it here.

No, that's the old version, for the PortableApps.com Menu 1.1.
Here is the new one, which patches 1.5.2:

PortableApps.com Platform 1.5.2 + R34 is the most feature-rich PortableApps.com based menu. PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 3 is the most recent.
1.5.2 to 1.5.2 R34 is like going from Microsoft WordPad to Microsoft Word. Does the same thing but adds a whole boatload of features, at the simple cost of you not getting the absolute latest.
Or... something like that.
Both MODs are actually the same. They're just different installers which replace different files. It's not 1.5.2 + MOD34. It's just MOD34.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Oh, so 1.1 patched with the first link and 1.5.2 patched with the link I posted generates the same thing?
In other words, I wasted my time at home, when I realized I had 1.1 patched with R34, I removed the folder, installed 1.5.2, and patched it with the R34 for 1.5.2... Did I really end up with the same thing I started with?
Still running 2.0 beta 3 on the flash drive, but I need categories on the menu at home. There're just too many apps to not have 'em, including 2 copies of Firefox and 2 of Pidgin.
… you could even try geek.menu.
this is planned for a future version of the menu.
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
That's great. I'd love to stay with the main PA.c menu if I can, as I imagine it's more stable etc.
If anyone knows more, could they clarify whether this is definitely going to happen? And when it might happen?

Hi,
Just joined....
I was wondering if this has been done yet or not. I wish to change the path and cannot find a way to do so. Do I need to download the mod or is it now a build in function of portableapps?
