I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 on win xp. I tried uninstall then install w/both restarting browser & pc as well as restart Firefox after clearing the cache. Nothing happened, it is still not working. Could there be something wrong with my Firefox profile. Any ideas of how I could go about finding out what's wrong with my firefox profile if it is that? Any ideas of what is going on at all?

You could try to rename your profile and see if it works with a clean one.
Rename the X:/PortableApps/FirefoxPortable/Data folder to a different name (or move it somewhere), for example Data2. Firefox will then create a new Data folder with a new profile in it. You will probably have to reinstall your add-ons.
If the problem still exist after doing this, your profile is fine. If the problem disapears doing this, the problem is with your profile. You could then either chose to keep the new one and reapply all your settings, or you could try to fix your old one. If you want to do the latter, I advise going here for help.
To get your old profile back, simply delete the new Data folder (or move it somewhere else) and rename/move your old Data folder back.
