A TeaTimer is an application created by Sybot - Search & Destroy, it provides real-time protection from undesirable registry changes and the like, this comes in the form of pop-ups which alert the user to registry changes, and ask for approval before allowing the change.

A TeaTimer like portable app would be cool, it starts when you put your USB on the USB port, and it can detect if anything goes into your USB, e.g. viruses, and you can stop it from entering your USB...

It maybe annoying to use, since everything that you put into your USB will be scanned and asked for approval, but it would be a great protection...

most antivirus will do

this job. I mean when you have an antivirus software running on a machine , it will have normally on access scan of all files enabled. Well nowadays this happens mostly on heuristic estimations, but anyway, everything you touch is scanned and so will be all files moving to or from the usb flash.

you can allways test the function with the EICAR test file (http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm )
Place it somewhere, even zipped twice if you like, then try to copy it to your stick. See what your antivirus will do.

One thing has to be however observed, such antivirus software needs to work very much inside the operating system, therefore will need to be properly installed and run as service before any user rights do apply. Doubt that something just running on its own without any admin rights will be able to do a lot.
