Portable Google Chrome's 2 problems

Hi :

I start useing "poratble Chrome" from last week.

However I founld there are 2 problems.

1. I can't direct use Portable Chrome to update from Google website. ( Normally on toolbar and "about google" there has a button to check update.

2.I try to change Chrome Theme, it is changed but when I close Chrome and reopen again is back to back default theme. ( Especially I can't change theme again )

Does any one can help me for these 2 problem?

You can't do this on any PortableApp. Google Chrome Portable is simply a package of Google Chrome that (supposedly) leaves nothing behind. It doesn't change the behavior of the app, including update. The official PortableApps.com updater (hopefully) will come soon.
Second one, I've heard is in the works. Try looking in the beta forums.

Actually, that's not

Actually, that's not completely true.

Firefox 3.6 will be able to auto-update itself from the mozilla website.
NOTE, I said 3.6 which is not officially released by mozilla.

And the thing with custom themes not being saved, it's probably an error Smile

Corporate Blocking

Legally, Google Chrome Portable cannot package the actual Google Chrome files so it has to download them during the install process.

Looks like your workplace has banned/blocked that download.

Are you sure you got the

Are you sure you got the installer from this website? I just downloaded and installed the Chrome 4 beta and it didn't prompt me for any info (domain/username/password/etc). That sounds like the activity of a Trojan so I'd scan you machine until you get this issue sorted.

I installed Chrome using this: https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable

EDIT: Is the username/password prompting in the installer the user above experienced for using a LAN proxy to download?
