[Notepad++] NPP doesn't start until you tell it twice, plugin issues

Seems like my Notepad++ won't start when I tell it to. Then I launch it again, and it comes up immediately, as though it had launched but the GUI failed to appear.

Also, did we ever figure out how to get that silly plugin check disabled?
