USB icon pops out in desktop once you plug it

Like Mac's,when you plug a usb, an usb icon will show in the desktop. Is it possible to do the same in Windows?

in sys tray

there is an icon when you connect your stick. It also is the one you can disconnect it with, so no need to have it on desktop as well.

Yes

Yes, it's in the system tray. In XP, it's a grey block, turned at a diagonal, with a left-pointing green arrow above it. If you're using Windows 7, it's a USB plug with a green circle, with a check box in it.

Left-click it and choose "Safely remove USB mass storage device - Drive(X:)" where X is your flash drive's drive letter, to safely disconnect. If you right-click it, you get some more options.

Nope, sadly not

And that system tray icon, isn't really all that useful, other than when you want to connect the drive.

No, I haven't seen anything like that for Windows. As suggested above you'll probably have to get some third party software to do it for you. That is one of the features about a Mac that I do like, I must confess.

Oh and I meant to say "disconnect the drive" in my prior post. Blum
