Sounds like a Firefox file got corrupted. Try starting in Safe Mode and see if that helps; if that doesn't do it, you'll probably need to re-install FF Portable.
You can also try asking on the MozillaZine forums; since this seems to be a FF issue instead of a FF Portable issue, they'll be able to help you more than we can.
