Hello All
Brand new to the site so please forgive me if I get it slightly wierd?
Saw this and I think it is an awesome idea but I am a bit confused. Is there a packaging tool that I can use to convert apps to portable applications?
So what I want to do is say find a widget like Trellian Web designer tool and run the install "through" some application and be presented with a portableapp that I can then just "move" to the users machine when they ask for it. Have I got it totally wrong?
If not can you tell me what the packager is called?
Thanks all
Sharif

Welcome to the site.
Generally speaking, it's not so simple as just throwing your favorite (non-portable) app through a packager and voila it's portable. If only it were that simple we'd all be doing it.
You can request apps to be made portable but you should note:
So, you can request all you like but nothing is guaranteed. One common mistake that people make is that they assume that any application can be made portable. This often isn't true for either legal/licensing issues or technical reasons, but particularly the former. Note that many commercial applications do not legally allow you to redistribute the original software in any form, particularly a repacked one.
If you are technically savvy and willing to devote time to this project then I'm sure the development team would welcome your help (I can't speak for them since I'm not part of it).
*Some freeware and commercial applications are accepted where special permission is given from the original author/s.
