TBP 3. Archive function, email 'disappears' FIXED

I have upgraded to tbp 3 today (09/12/10) and I've noticed that I am losing emails that I archive. I have emails in the archive from the 8th 12, so I have effectively lost two days of emails.

I tested this by emailing myself and archiving the email. It disappears. It isn't in the archive 'folder' nor can it be found by searching. I can get the test email back by ctrl+z, but that only works for the emails archived in this session.

I've also tested this in RC2 and it has the same problem.

I've set tbp3 to never delete emails.

I like the archive idea, (never delete, search, etc)

Archive about:config settings:

mail.identity.default.archives_folder_picker_mode;0

mail.identity.id1.archive_folder;mailbox://bhuxh3@pop.eq.edu.au/Archives

mail.last_msg_movecopy_target_uri;mailbox://bhuxh3@pop.eq.edu.au/Archives

mail.server.default.archive_granularity;1

mailnews.customHeaders;Archived

----
Solution is to change:

mail.server.default.archive_granularity;1

to

mail.server.default.archive_granularity;0

POP

Why is your Archive set to be on your POP mail server? POP can't handle folders or putting mail on it. Did it switch from IMAP to POP somehow and not see it?

No IMAP.

Because I only have pop with that email address? It is a government departmant account so of course no IMAP

Huh?

Are you saying the above config means it is trying to archive the email to the pop server rather than my local file?

Yup

That's what it looks like. Head into account options and be sure that archive is set to local folders. You may have to set it for something else, save options, then open them again and set it to local to get it to stick.

Not working.

I've set it to Archives in 'Local Folders'. (the email address is/was a local folder, because that is what I called the account name... )

If I don't save any searches called 2009, it adds a folder called 2009 to Archives with the email. If I do have a saved search called 2009, the email disappears.

Weird.

Could this be a bug with TBP, not PA?

Well it does it also in TB, not just TBP so I'll conclude it is a bug with TP. I can't find a setting that adds a folder by date, it is probably there.

I seem to recall that it only does by year by default. I guess if you add more it can mess it up. You can set it to a single archives folder, per year or per month/year using an advanced setting:
