XUL cache

Hello,

Even though I set nglayout.debug.disable_xul_cache to true in about:config, I still don't see XUL changes without restarting PFF. Is there something in PFF besides this setting which is forcing XUL to be cached?

I posted a question about this here.

Thanks,
grimholtz

Yes

When Firefox hit 1.5, several extensions exhibitted problems with XUL cache being disabled so it was re-enabled and the launcher updated to set XUL cache enabled on launch to auto-fix older profiles that had it disabled.

Old launcher?

@ rmccue: see this thread.

@ john: Thanks. You knew I'd ask this: how can I get the old launcher and/or modify the existing one to prevent this behavior?

thanks,
grimholtz

Update

I'll update the next launcher to add it in as an option. Or remove it entirely as everyone has probably upgraded from 1.0 at this point so it's probably not necessary anymore.

You can grab the old launcher from SourceForge (download PFF 1.0.7) but note that it doesn't support the new directory layouts:

update

Please try to add it as an option: there are lots of live linux CDs in the wild which still use Firefox 1.0... I have a version of Knoppix I use often which has FF 1.0. I sometimes do the upgrade to 1.5 if I think I won't be rebooting for a few weeks.

Any idea when this might be available?

Relation

What does the fact that there are lots of FF 1.0 copies in use have to do with enabling/disabling XUL? You can still use the latest PFF launcher with a FF 1.0 install if you so choose (just drop it into PortableFirefox\App\firefox).

Yeah...

Exactly. What John meant was that most people using Portable Firefox have already upgraded to 1.5. It doesn't matter that there are still copies of 1.0 in the wild.
