Solved: Make this work on Windows 7 64bit!!!

Ok, when you run it the first time it saves your settings.

But since Windows 7 sees the exe as an installer (NSIS) it will create a new profile for this application.

And, when you close it, and reopen it - it will link to the new profile..

Right click on EXE for both Thunderbird and Firefox portable.

Goto troubleshoot compatability, and choose Windows XP SP3 - then save the settings for the exe forever.

Create a shortcut and put it on your desktop.

Both programs now load your portable profile!

Not needed

I haven't heard any complaints about any of our applications on Windows 7, 64-bit. They all work fine. What is it that you were having go wrong at all?

Also, please don't just create two copies of the same topic in two different forums. It's just not necessary.

Just like others were

Just like others were complaining in the forum.. When you open the application, windows sees it as an installer.. and creates a profile for it on windows..

Next time you launch it, ALL of your bookmarks or emails are GONE because it tries loading from the windows profile directory...

Complaining?

I haven't seen any complaints. All the new applications that we release are built with NSIS 2.45 (or now 2.46) and thus the Windows 7 compatibility issue is fixed.

Are you using the latest version of Firefox Portable?

It must have been something

It must have been something different with your setup, as I've not had one issue with running any PortableApps.com apps, including Firefox and Thunderbird from my drive with Win7 remembering and using the right profile. I've been running them on Win7 Ultimate 64-bit for 2.5 months now, and not once have I had an issue.
