SyMenu works the way I want it to! (it is also portable)
http://www.ugmfree.it/SyMenu.aspx
I am using Win7 and have tried many different menu/loader/docks, and none seem to work well, or the way 'I' want them to. Even the built in toolbar menu in Win7 has issues. The main hangup most menus seem to have in common is a long delay (~15 seconds) loading and displaying all the icons in a container menu. SyMenu does not suffer this problem. It extracts all the icons when added to the menu, and stores them in a local folder. Finally a menu that works well, and remains fast when loaded with files. I have about 160 items in the menu.
Chosen over.
rocketdock
objectdock
appetizer
portableapps.com menu
launchy
7stacks
standalonestak2
And a few more I forget...
Looks really promising, but unfortunately it uses .NET so it can't become official here...
Thanks for the link, though! I'm sorely tempted...

Yep, not trying to get it added, just there for info. I've been looking for a decent (for me) launcher for months.
Looks like a pretty potent launcher.
Thanks for the link!

Do you want me to add it to the Unofficial .NET List? https://portableapps.com/node/21636

for me it is already portable, my systems already have .net
up to you.
Looks very similar to ASuite (Classic menu) which doesn't require .Net
Seems pretty similar to PStart.
On their screenshots page, they show a picture of it with a flash drive.
But if it requires .NET on any computer it runs on... that really doesn't add up.
I mean, I use the R34 menu at home, which is a fork of a menu made for flash drives, but changing things in that direction makes some sense (e.g. if you're a reformat nut). But to make something that isn't portable at all (e.g. would be useful on your home computer, but nowhere else guaranteed) and advertise it as for flash drives, that does not work.
Just saying. To each his own.
