I am trying to make Java portable work with the portable apps version of Mozilla Firefox. My understanding is that firefox portable should automatically find this. However it does not work, is there a specific install procedure to make it work with firefox? Does it just not work with firefox? I prefer to run it from a network shared drive, but I have also tried running them all from my local PC's drive. Please advise, much appreciated.

Firefox itself can only use a local JVM. Actually the Java plugin for FF works that way (and it is not open source, so we can't change it). We're working on it though.
