Firefox updates itself on hard drive

OK, this is weird.

I'm running Portable Firefox (3.5.5) from a flash drive on my work PC (XP) that does NOT have Firefox installed on it.

Every once in a while, a Firefox shortcut will show up on the desktop and low and behold an installation of Firefox in the program files folder. I uninstall it and sure enough a day or two later, it installs itself again. I never see the installation window for this happen.

Is Portable Firefox trying to up[date itself, but somehow installing a fresh version on the hard disk? I'm perplexed.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

No

Something else is doing it. Could the IT administrator be doing it or have set up something to do it?

Firefox Portable will not, can not do it.

I'm running it portable as my IT dept does not allow Firefox to be on our system. Oh well. I'll just keep deleting it.

Thanks for the reply.
