Johns fix 2:
https://portableapps.com/node/19399#comment-127520
This does work, gegl is removed...seems like this may have been forgotten?
on XP as well as windows 7

I can confirm both gegl-0.0 being left behind and the fix working on Windows XP Professional.

i have this problem too. Guess you're right and it was just forgotten.

Please John make a rev 2 update with the fix you have made.
EDIT: Pretty please?
It's on the To Do list. Please STOP asking.

I don't quite get why people get so stressed over this...
All people have to do is replace the file once, and then that is it, it's not like you are installing GIMP every two minutes...

That is not about deleting the folder. It is about reverting the system change once made by GIMP-portable.
We know that this change leads Windows to recreate the gegl-0.0 folder after every boot. We don't know what else it is doing. It is probably delaying the boot and consuming memory. Very unfortunate for a portable app.
By the way: I don't need a fixed launcher, I need a script that undoes what the faulty launcher made to my system. If GIMP developers made a decent uninstaller then maybe its code can use as base for this script.
It's not like that at all. It's a simple folder which gets created when GIMP Portable is run. It does absolutely nothing with the system and will alter nothing at all with boot speed or memory consumption. It's the sort of change which will be noticed by very few users, and most of those won't really mind either.

its nevertheless a achange which should be avoided...
