Evernote - Freeware
www.evernote.com
Evernote is a useful bit of software that allows a person to take notes, have them synchronized to other platforms (including phones). It also has the ability to recognize and search index text in images.
There is a couple of other old suggestion threads out there, but now that freeware is on the site, I think that this would make a valuable addition to the collection.
It would be nice to have the stable and beta versions available for PA.c
I remember there being some talk about a downloadable portable version before, but I feel more comfortable if it was on PA.c because then it is likely to updates.
If Evernote can't be made into a full app, then maybe there can be an installer/launcher a la Google Chrome Portable.
Thanks,
X-Legs
Would love to see this.

It seems that EN would be interested in making a portable version

I have made a Evernote Portable in PortableApps.com Format.
This is based on Evernote 4.4.0.4605.
To reduce the size.I deleted most of the languages files (except English and Chinese). You can copy your language File into the Evernote directory manualy.
It's compressed with PortableApps.com AppCompactor.
Also you can upgrade the program by your self, just copy it to the right place.

Evernote is freeware, and cannot be legally put into paf.exe format without developer permission.
If you have developer permission, please create a new thread in the Beta Testing sub-forum, following the guidelines set out for that sub-forum and quote anything you have to show that you have the developer's permission.
If you don't have developer permission, please remove your links, or a moderator will remove them for you.
How is he supposed to do that, now that you replied to him?
Previously known as kAlug.
So please remove the link.I can't edit the post now.Thanks.
ThinApp and David_PI have created versions of Evernote Portable. But the link to the packaged software had to be to rubbed out.
However, many persons would prefer a portable Evernote version, which can be executed on a DropBox-, TeamDrive- or USB-stick-folder.
Both DropBox and TeamDrive can be executed portable, but only DropBox can sync through all business proxy servers.
If anybody has no installation right on his business computer, he must use PNotes Portable or CherryTree portable instead of Evernote until now.
A similar alternative to Evernote is the Open-Source-app Nevernote (new NixNote) able to be synchronized with the Evernote account and able to use images and many formatting features in the Notes.
All functions are nearly equal to those of Evernote.
Evernote and NeverNote (NixNote) have access to the notes from all SmartPhones, CherryTree and PNotes can be used on desktop computers, not on Smartphones.
Because NixNote is Open Source it should be permitted to make a portable NixNote version.
So I suggest to make a portable version of NeverNote (NixNote): http://is.gd/Ro71gz

David_Pi, I would be interested in seeing this if you would care to contact me privately.
I have created an Evernote Portable for test and it is created under the PortableApps.com Format and you can use it in the Portableapps.com Platform.
Evernote Portable: [link to illegally packaged software removed by mod JTH]
You need permission from a publisher to repackage freeware.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Weren't you speaking with them at one point?
How did that go?

I didn't hear back from them again. Which is the same thing that happened the last time we were speaking with them. At the higher levels, I don't think there's much interest in a portable version, which is odd, as we have a larger userbase than U3 ever did. I'll ping them yet again, but if we don't hear back, I think we should just move on and recommend alternatives.

Hello ThinApp and David_PI!
Both of You have created versions of Evernote Portable developed under the PortableApps.com format and for use in the Portableapps.com Platform. But You need a permission from a publisher to repackage freeware.
So unfortunatelly the link to the illegally packaged software had to be removed by mod JTH. But very many people need a portable Evernote version, which can be executed on a DropBox-, TeamDrive- or USB-stick-folder. Both DropBox and TeamDrive can be executed portable, but only DropBox can sync through all business proxy servers. TeamDrive cannot sync through some proxy servers.

People, who have no admin rights on their business computers must use PNotes Portable or CherryTree portable until now. PNotes Portable is quite good, similar to Evernote, but not able to use images in the Notes. PNotes is able to sync the notes with an FTP-account and supports automatically working internet-links and you can search with tags and words in the text with very quick results similar to evernote:

In CherryTree you can save big notebooks with a hierarcical and tagged note-structure in ctd-files and CherryTree is able to paste images from the clipboard to the notes.

The best app similar to Evernote is its Open Source - brother app able to be synchronized with the Evernote account and able to use images and rich formatting features in the Notes. All function are nearly equal to those of Evernote.
Only Evernote and NeverNote (NixNote) have access to the notes from all SmartPhones, CheryTree and PNotes only can be used on desktop computers.
So I suggest to make a portable version of NeverNote = NixNote: http://alternativeto.net/software/nevernote/?platform=windows&license=free .

Ernest
this gives you full access to your evenote account
http://www.nevernote.nl/
I use it on Linux
It', design is less elegant than evernote and some minor functions are missing.
But it does what it needs to do!
it's even better than Evernote - allows to edit ENML file sources

Finally, I'd like to point out that this release adds the ability to view and edit the source HTML of a note. This can be useful if you have problems saving a note or to tweak the formatting. The thing to remember is that it will still try to cleanup any invalid HTML so it can be synchronized with Evernote, so formatting may still be modified after saving. It also won't prevent you from doing anything foolish like editing encrypted text or changing resource GUIDs so be careful.
Thanks,
Randy
NixNote looks like a pretty good open source EverNote alternative. This would make a great portable app.
Kim
I've noticed it never completely syncs
I would love this too.
