UltraSurf

Whatever you do, don't use UltraSurf. It's been found to contain a lot of malware and spyware; better change your passwords after you uninstall it.
If you absolutely must use a proxy, use Tor - at least it doesn't have malware.

I'm not sure what's going on with your Firefox, but it's certainly possible UltraSurf is interfering with it - UltraSurf creates several Registry keys which instruct Windows to send all traffic through UltraSurf's proxy first, and it's possible some sites don't like that.

Hope you get everything sorted out!

You may not have seen a

You may not have seen a problem with it, but there definitely are problems with it. Here you go; you can judge for yourself whether UltraSurf is what you want or not. (And btw, there is no security or anonymity from this "proxy" - UltraSurf is being used to spy on you)

Use Tor, use HotSpot Shield, anything but UltraSurf.
And just for the record, I have no affiliation with Tor, UltraSurf, or any other proxy/proxy service/proxy browser or the maker of any proxy/proxy service/proxy browser.

Cheers!
