Dear Mr. Haller,
I just wanted to mention that the Firefox Portable (Minefield) 3.7 Alpha 1 download will no longer install because the Minefield has upgraded to FF 3.7 Alpha 2. It's not a big deal, but I just thought I would mention it.
Sincerely,
Kent Coley
firefox 3.7 development has been junked hasn't it?
announced mid January I think
No, Firefox 3.7 is still on track to be released in the first half of 2010, I believe. A lot of people were confused about some of the features (primarily out of process plugins) that they are trying to release in a version of Firefox 3.6 (maybe 3.6.1) before 3.7 is released.
I seem to remember hearing that 3.7 had being scrapped as well, in favor of 4.0.
Edit: Yeah, here we go: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9144820/Mozilla_dumps_Firefox_3.7...
Unfortunately many of the articles that were published online were inaccurate. I found the information from Mozilla's Director of Firefox and it seems to indicate that 3.7 is still planned for an official release, at least based on my reading of his comments. I also checked the builds at the Burning Edge, Mozilla's website for their pre-release products and the nightly builds are still labeled 3.7A2.
