Hey guys,
I have this strange problem, hope you can help me.
I chose ,after a LONG use of utorrent under the xp, to install utorrent 1.85 (and other apps) in its portable version on my new windows 7.
First all went well, but suddenly information disappeared. Suddenly, after I turn the pc on and start utorrent, lots of torrents added after certain date disappeared from utorent. With them it seemed that more information has lost.
locations changed back to there original place (but the files are no longer there so a problem appear), new labels disappeared and so are other configuration I changed.
At the first time it appear, I thought I am to blame, so I added all the missing Information and change the configurations buck, but then it happen again today.
Did anyone heard about this problem?
Can it be fixed?
What can be done that it won't happen again?
Thanks in advance.
UtorrentPortable, in some cases could have a problem with drive letter switching!
Have you only used uTorrentPortable on this Windows 7 PC, or did you switch between PC's ???

Thanks for the answer Gringoloco.
I use the utorrent portable only on this pc, and the first time under 7 (till I uprated from xp I used the installed version).
I did so because due to different problems occurred on XP I want to be able to format and reinstall the pc easily.
More information (might be useful)
1.When I Installed the 7, first I used the installed version of utorrent 1.85. Then I read about the portable option and add it to the pc. So for some time I had them both on the same pc (no need to say, never ran at the same time). If i remember correctly, the first time the information from the utorrent portable disappear, the installed version was there to. Since, I un installed it. So yesterday then it happened for the second time, the portable version was the only utorrent on the pc.
I thought about other installed app that might have something to do with utorrent:
1. NetBalancer which runs each time i starts the pc and have some to do withe the issue.
2. utorrent turbo accelerator with have more to do with utorrent but most of the times (including the last one) wasn't running (but unlike the utorrent portable is an installed app so it might doing something anyway)
3. PeerGuardian 2.0 - have some to do with utorrent , but
a. wasn't running the last time the problem occurred.
b. was installed under the xp with the regular utorrent 1.85 - made no problem.
4. a hp printer driver that seems to make problems.
What do you think?
I really only know about the drive letter change issue, but as I understand you don't use uTorrentPortable on different drive-letters.
If it's a Windows 7 thing, more people should experience this behavior.

Hi, I have de same problem as micmic.
But these are my directory settings.
..\..\Data\Downloads
..\..\Data\Torrent
So why would be the letter an issue. It is not supose to look into the same directory? My laptop is on 7 as my desktop is on 7 x64.
The drive letter is for some people giving problems, cause uTorrent doesn't save all the settings as a relative path. Have a look in 'resume.dat', and you will see the drive-letters.

My drive letter changes depending on which USB port I plug my flash drive into. Could that be what is happening?
What is happening???
If anything, please search the forum for a similar topic or start a new one. This way micmic's topic will be hijacked
[edit: sorry, I see what you mean now, if that would be what is happening for him!]

thanks for the answer, crux.
The utorrent 1.85 portable runs from a regular inside hdd. I do not remove nor change it. I did put a shortcut at the start menu folder but I didn't think its relevant.
BTW, I asked at one of the torrent sited forums and they say the 1.85 is not the most stable version and I probably should consider downgrade to utorrent 1.82 portable because the 1.82 (portable on not) was the last good version so far. does anyone know something about it?.
There should not be a problem to just replace the uTorrent.exe to version 1.82.
uTorrent uses the same executable for both installing and running. Depending on if it can find a settings file or not, it will decide to just run, or ask to install it self! The launcher will make sure it will find the settings file.
I'm just hoping the 1.82 can handle 1.85 's settings, if it doesn't let me know !
So download 1.82 to uTorrentPortable\App\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe !!!
