Gpredict is a satellite tracking program for free amateur radio communication using amsat satellites and the International Space Station amateur transponder and radio BBS. Somebody with a walkie-talkie type radio can access these satellites if they can make or bring along a portable yaggi antenna.
Travelers might not have their own computer or PDA but do have the radio gear. It would be nice when at a hostel to plug in a usb drive and track or print out the days satellite passes. The satellite passes only last around 10-15 minutes and are hard to predict without a program.
Gpredict is freeware, open source, GPL, and already compiled for windows, mac, and linux on the project website. http://gpredict.oz9aec.net/ http://www.amsat.org/
