It worked fine before but then you had undergone maintenance and it has since stopped working.
Not a real issue but I wanted to give you a heads up.

You mean to tell us that you were logging in at that phishing site? Why? And... why would anyone here want to do so?
http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites/portableapps.com
I thought it was so cool because its the same--but different. I guess i shouldnt go no more...
all the nodes and everything are the same--except that its www.tct.hn/node/whatever insead of portableapps.com/node/whatever... I thought it was all the same.
You fell for a phishing site, of which there are many duplicating PA. Hopefully you didn't donate to them?
Anyway, you should definitely change your password, now. idk about you, but I'd be changing all my passwords after an incident like this.
Incidentally, if you browse their setup, it's actually quite clever. They mirror the forums, so everything looks exactly like PA; the downloads, though, are routed back to PA, as are the forum user accounts. (Try clicking one of the "Moderator:" links - it goes back to PA)
I've already had a couple of those phishing sites hauled down, and I talked to John today about representing him (per the idiotic DMCA requirements) to get even more of them hauled down.
I've found an apparently-unique search term that only returns these PA ripoffs; there's probably a dozen, which should make for an interesting time taking down.

Agreed, If I were you I would change my password.

I don't know how much the people who've seen or replied to this know about DNS/Domain hosting, etc, but this is more than a "tricky" setup. You need to look at the domain records and whois to get a clear picture on this.
If you look, www.tct.hn actually is just a cname to portableapps.com, so it's not actually a phishing site. It's just pointing right to portableapps.com. NOW, on the other hand, tct.hn (no www.) is not, and is an entirely different site altogether.
So really, this isn't a phishing site, the CNAME points to portableapps.com which uses portableapps.com's A record and points to the appropriate IP address.
So, in short, this isn't actually a phishing site, which is why it's not listed as such, it's just piggy-backing off the portableapps.com Domain.
This sounds a lot like that tctshare.com I saw a few months back...

Thank you all for your fine work. This is new to me. How are they hoping to earn money doing this? Are they SEOing their fake sites? What do their ads look like?
Is this like Corrupt-A-Wish?
TCT.HN and any other domains using a CNAME have been blocked.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
www.tct.hn now redirects to PortableApps.com - a nice twist. Wonder how long tct will stay up before its creators get the hint.
Oh, btw, I sent you an e-mail to the business_development address; not trying to prod or hurry you, just an FYI.
"The question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-two, which is a little aggravating."
Well, I've known about some of them, even have 10 of them bookmarked under "FAKEs" for some reason (of course, I never used them! I always login through the real portableapps.com). I just checked, and only 1 of them (tct.hn) is redirecting to portableapps.com. There is still 9 of them that I know of and have bookmarked (I found them over 1.5 months ago, so there may have been some newer ones popping out), if you want I can email them to you. Or give them over chat?
Cheers
@ computerfreaker: on another note, I checked my way of doing the "library thing", and amazingly it worked from the first go. I also had your way listed as option 2 in the "book" I had. If you want any details, you can come to chat or something. Just say so here before logging in to chat, and say what server, because I'm not on irc right now. Take care
EDIT:
Well, since people below are posting the links to those fake portableapps.com phishing sites, I might as well contribute. There are still 7 of my bookmarked FAKEs. They are as follows:
1) http://www.xudua24h.info/
2) http://www.divangbuon.com/
3) http://www.alo.im/
4) http://www.tctlink.com/
5) http://www.tctads.com/
6) http://72.32.40.232/
7) http://www.it-tct.com/
Now, I repeat, these were the ones I found over 1.5 months ago, so there are very likely to be others (newer ones) out there.
PS:
On another note, I see the moderators just skipped through my previous post about a typo on https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#performance
Under "Disable Anti-Phishing", it says

only #6 is marked bad by WOT.
All are blocked. #6 is our IP address and redirects into the site now.

I constantly like to google my stuff to see what comes up (like my website amongst other things:
http://www.tctimg.net/tracker?page=7
http://www.xudua24h.org/tracker?page=4
(this one seems to be updated a lot more: http://www.thacodon.com/forums/development/beta_testing
This too: http://www.tctclick.com/node/20798
phishing sites? WOT doesn't know any of them. Hey... lets all go rate them... red for everything!
I did this all while I was logged into here and none of them had me logged in.
I had always used WWW.tct.hn because its not blocked by Lightspeed Systems (they blocked PortableApps.com because its computers.filehosting even though PA doesn't actually host files [they also block sourceforge])
WWW.tct.hn had me fooled because all my posts still appeared on PA! I was disappointed though to see that it now redirects to PA and is thus blocked.
As for my password... I'm not worried (I never have been). I know you guys know me and would immediately know it ain't me by the way I (the fake I) write(s).
I don't even know what phishing means, by the way.
All those sites are now blocked and redirected to PortableApps.com.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Wow!
But I'm confused... did you buy the domains? I thought you had to buy them. Huh. *he scratches his head*
From what I understand the other domain names were set up to go to Portableapps.com servers, so what ever you did the there also happened here vis/versa. Some how John was able to change/add/edit something on Portableapps.com domain name so that there domain name would redirect here.

"The shell is the key to unlock Linux's greatest advantages."
No, from my understanding here's what was done.
PHP allows you to check what the domain of the website is. If it sees that the domain is a domain above, then it redirects here.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.server.php
[Edit: I just realized, why don't we do this currently? Right now we probably have several domains added to the list and the site redirects if it's one of those domains. Why don't we go vice versa and redirect here if the domain isn't PortableApps.com at all?]
Well, something like this.
I'm basically saying, Let's have a whitelist instead of a blacklist. sar3th came up with the quote on IRC.
I suggest a script which is more like this:
[php removed]
Why? Some people have JavaScript turned off, and they should be warned as well!
And yes, this will require drupal hacking to work correctly.
to quote ptmb: "sometimes hacking is better than working around"
You're missing one important thing - what happens when people have JavaScript disabled or NoScript installed?
I, for example, would never get the redirect.
This, IMHO, is a better way of doing it because it's not reliant on any client-side anything.
EDIT: sar3th beat me to it. I wonder which script is more flexible?
"The question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-two, which is a little aggravating."
I left the code to give users a general idea of how it would be done.
The code doesn't even work. If you paste it into a page, you'll get php errors.
sar3th's is definitely more efficient, but requires some drupal hacking.
I was going to say these are all the same as www.tct.hn was, all CNAMES, but it seems that John has already taken care of them
I just searched my username and found these

It seems it would be easier to do something where any request to the portableapps server not originating from start, downloads, etc. would automagically redirected. Is that possible?

yes digitxp, see my comment here: https://portableapps.com/node/22843#comment-144349
Well, similarly to what OliverK posted recently, I just re-checked all the links to those FAKE PortableApps.com websites, and to my amazement, NONE of them are being rerouted to the real PortableApps.com. It seems that what ever you did John, it was only a temporary fix. You can try out the links for yourself:
0) http://72.32.40.232/ (I know you said that this one is your own IP [hence the 0], but it's not redirecting here...)
1) http://www.alo.im/
2) http://www.divangbuon.com/
3) http://www.it-tct.com/
4) http://www.tctads.com/
5) http://www.tctcheck.com/
6) http://www.tctclick.com/
7) http://www.tctimg.net/
8) http://www.tctlink.com/
9) http://www.thacodon.com/
Well, I don't care much about the sites cloning this one as far as the cloning goes, but you should definitely do something because of those redirected "Make a Donation" buttons... They are indeed costing you some hard earned, or at least earned (if not hard ) donation-income.
I hope you can make/figure out a more solid way of redirecting them to your own website...
Take care
PS: Is there a way to turn off smileys is certain posts, or better at certain places in your post? That was supposed to be a "8 )" sign, as in "8." or "eight", not a "chill out" smiley...
My posts are old and likely no longer relevant.
I think you're expected to mess around with HTML tags and use a numbered lists such as:
<ol>
<li>first item</li>
<li>second item</li>
<li>third item</li>
<li>fourth item</li>
<li>fifth item</li>
<li>sixth item</li>
<li>seventh item</li>
<li>eighth item</li>
</ol>
Which would produce:
and no "cool" smiley. 8)
Thanks for the hint. Somewhat...
Actually, the "code" tag was what I was looking for... I'm kinda lazy, and that one requires the least amount of work It's always about not having to do much. I hate the "ahref" tags for that reason, as well as all the others that require "a lot of work" (I know it's relative, but I consider it a lot of work lol )... I only do them when I have a lot of time on my hands.
So, in the future, I simply drag'n'drop the "code" tag in front and behind the
8)
... Just like now Thanks for the hint, wouldn't have even thought about these tags if you hadn't mentioned it (I know, pretty obvious, wasn't it?). Usually the sites deal with BBCode, not HTML...Take care 8) 8)

This was due to a regression in the updated site rules. It's been re-fixed.

Hi everybody,
I am the owner of the domain name
1) http://www.xudua24h.info/
2) http://www.divangbuon.com/
3) http://www.alo.im/
4) http://www.tctlink.com/
5) http://www.tctads.com/
6) http://tct.hn/
7) http://www.it-tct.com/
Today I accidentally found this information on the Internet.
Actually, just because my favorite portableapps.com, I have my domain pointing to the portableapps.com. I absolutely had no intention other than the people easy access to portableapps.com
If there is something wrong sorry hope you understand.
If not, I would like to point my domain all the other places!
Sorry!
p / s: I'm a Vietnam, I use English is not good
The point is, why would you do it? It doesn't give people any easier access to PortableApps.com, and it does split things like a Google PageRank, and probably get people confused about what's what. I can't think of any valid reason for such a technique at all.

hj!
At first because I can not remember the http://portableapps.com, so I use the domain name to replace tct.hn memorable.
Now the domain Left by not using so I can point to portableapps.com unconscious.
I never thought to increase PR or ranking at all. The truth is that the domain name listed above do not rank on alexa or google.
Regarding the content of my site http://tctshare.com/ equivalent https://portableapps.com/:). This is not the way to increase rankings.
I know I did, just because I like portableapps.com.
"portableapps" is easier to remember than "tct"
Maybe not, if English isn't your native language. Just a thought.
For what it's worth I don't really understand the point either.
What is the point of owning these domain names if you just redirect them to other sites?
You might as well put up pages with links to the sites you like.
It's far more polite to do that, than to hijack other domains without their permission!
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
It's just pointing em to something. When you buy a domain you're not using it yet, you park it to something temporarily. Granted, you usually park it to something you own.
