WordPerfect compatibility

the literature says that Portable OO is "compatible" with WordPerftect. I take this to mean that it can open WordPerfect files. Can it also save as a WordPerfect file?

thanks

Yes and No

It can read .wpd files. But it cannot save to them.

LBA-Office R2 OpenOffice variant will read and write WordPerfect

The OpenOffice variant "LBA-Office R2" and its earlier cousin "LBA-Office R1" will both read from and write to WordPerfect files. LBA-Office R2 is a now defunct Finish release that focused on LBA Linux (called by other names, see http://distrowatch.com/ for details), but LBA supported a Windows version of their LBA-Office R2 OpenOffice suite. LBA-Office R2 can still be obtained off the Internet via FTP and sometimes off Torrent, or alternatively, I can arrange to have you download it off the Internet via FTP or HTTP.

LBA-Office R2 is the complete OpenOffice 1.5 suite of office services and it works very well indeed, but alas, it is not in the Portable format, although it is substantially smaller in size than the current Portable OpenOffice 2.0.2 and I believe it will work on a flash drive -- for example, because I remember formatting it on a flash drive for a friend and then running it on a Windows 98SE machine.

Best Regards,
