Master Certificate not found.

Hello

Mozilla Master Certificate works well when Firefox is launched from "App\firefox\Firefox.exe", with the master certificate (systemSignature.jar) in the same directory as Firefox.exe, and the Issuer CA certificate loaded in the certificate store.

The Mozilla Master certificate is not working (not found?) when Firefox is launched from the PortableFirefoxe.exe file.

I've even copied systemSignature.jar file in every directories of PFF without any success either.

Can somebody help me with this?

Don't use firefox.exe

The reason it works is because it's using your normal Firefox.
Hmm, I don't have a clue why it doesn't work.
John, any ideas?

Nope

I've never used a Mozilla master certificate and don't know anything about how it works. If it doesn't work by dropping the systemSignature.jar file within PortableFirefox\App\firefox then it just may not be portable.

More about Master Certificate

Mozilla Master Certificate grant trust to owner/producer of the systemSignature certificate without user interaction. This is a documented feature of Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/components/master-cert.html) often used by distributor of the mozilla browser.

The master certificate in Mozilla is defined as the signature on the systemSignature.jar file. This file must be installed in the same directory as the Mozilla binary. This file can be generated using signtool, a Mozilla utility for signing code files.

Is there a way to trace filesystem access request for Firefox when launched with PFF?

Launch it directly

Run PortableFirefox.exe at least once from your current location to ensure the profile is updated. Then run firefox.exe directly with the -profile switch pointing to your profile. Something like:

X:\PortableFirefox\App\firefox\firefox.exe -profile X:\PortableFirefox\Data\profile\

That should do allow you to trace file access.
