CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER

Prior to FF 3.6 I could type in the address bar something like "openoffice" and then press ctrl-shift Enter to go to openoffice.org. Same goes for shift-Enter to automatically go to .net. Now this is not working for me. Is this a change in behavior for FF 3.6 or something peculiar to my installation? Ctrl-Enter still works for .com.

Listed

It's still listed as supported. I don't use it though so I can't comment other than to say it should work. It isn't an issue with the portable version though whatever it may be.

Works for me

Works for me, I don't use this feature at all, but I did exactly as you said, typing "openoffice" in the address bar then press CTRL+SHIFT+Enter and it opened openoffice.org. Apparently there's such a site as "fluffybunnies.org" as well. Biggrin

From what I can tell there don't appear to be any settings to change this behavior so perhaps another application is hijacking your required key combinations? Pardon

Add-ons

What other add-ons do you have installed? Could one of them take over the keystroke combination?

Try disabling all of your add-ons and see if the behavior changes (you can re-enable them later). I'd suggest safe mode, but I'm not sure that it would work with the portable version.

I am thinking that is what is up since I haven't found any other mention of this problem. Thanks all.

Hyperwords is the culprit.

Hyperwords is the culprit. Suspected that might be the case though I can't see where the key strokes are used in it. I use it a lot so I am disappointed to lose it.

Email Hyperwords Developers

You should email the makers of the Hyperwords add-on, they proudly claim on their website that they "reply to ALL email.".

I'm sure it's an oversight on their part OR somewhere you have to the ability to disable the key combinations.

UPDATE: Actually, just for kicks I installed Hyperwords and the key combination still works for me and I can get to OpenOffice.org without any problems. So maybe Hyperwords isn't the culprit after all.

After I uninstalled

After I uninstalled Hyperwords the key combinations worked. Reinstalled Hyperwords, the combination failed again to work. Actually I uninstalled all my extensions, and key combos worked, reinstalled just Hyperwords and the problem resurfaced. Must be something peculiar to my installation. Are you using FF 3.6?

FF 3.6 here

I most surely am. I'm also on Win XP. Can you provide a link of where you're installing Hyperwords from just to be sure I'm installing the right thing. Perhaps there's another "Hyperwords" out there... you never know! Wink
