OK this is what I would like, not sure if it already exists or not?
I have Portableapps on 5 sticks in one form or another. They are specific to the programs I have on each, for instances I have one with just disk type utilities for when I work on machines, I have the GREAT music release of PA, another I use basically as a loader for other portable software, my main one ( which is loaded with just about everything lol) and finally one for basically on the go net use. Any way generally I download updates once and then go from stick to stick to update them. What I would like to see is a program that can search a portable drive, list the programs on it and also the version of the software. This way I could print it out and have handy reference as to what version of what I have and then compare them against all the updates that come out.
Not sure if that makes sense or is even doable as it has been probably 25 years since I programmed anything and that was in basic and extended basic with a little assembly in the old TI99/4A days.
So can it be done? Does it already exist? Am I crazy? feel free to anser all or any of those questions.
The 2.0 Beta 5 release which is about to drop has a built-in updater. So you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Sweet I am running the 2.0 4 now and new an update feature was coming but figured it was just for the main app and not all apps loaded! sweet. Since you responded JOhn can I ask a question? Can I legitimately put the 2.0 beta 4 onto the special music PA if so how can I save the original theme I just like the way the beta is working but would love to keep the rest original?

The theme in the music suite is custom and won't work with 2.0 Beta 4, so don't install it over it yet... but will with 2.0 Beta 5.
The updater updates the platform (menu, backup/restore and the updater itself) as well as all the apps in the Portable App Directory you have installed.
