Firefox cache

My concern is I want to minimize read-writes to the EeePC 900 netbook SSD.

I understand any browser caches a lot. I don't have Bookmarks caching webpages or favicons, however, there are so many things a broswer will cache.

My question is: does Portable Apps Firefox cache to the SD card?

I have my Portable Apps on a SD card.

no

The standard settings are that the cache will be in your RAM.

Lovely! ..all the more reason

Lovely! ..all the more reason to recommend Portable Apps, for SSD netbooks and laptops.

The controller's on the newer SSD's, e.g. Runcore SATA, OCZ and SanDisk G3 come immediately to mind, handle the write problem better. Nevertheless, having the browser cache write to RAM is the recommended "good practice" in the forums.

I have the older "oem" EeePC 900 ASUS-PHISON "MLC" SSD 1 GB RAM running Flashfire.

It is surprising how much quicker than my Toshiba Vista this little netbook is and much nicer to use.
