FireFox Portable isn't (portable)

FFP 3.6 on XP home.

I downloaded it and installed a bunch of extensions, moved my toolbars around, edited my menus, made some bookmarks, things were going good.

Then I moved it to my usb stick. Not even on a different system, just moved it to the stick. All my book marks are gone. A couple toolbars I created and one from an extension have vanished, my toolbars are all hosed up with Icons in places they are not supposed to be and half the icons I placed on them are missing. My menus are back to the default or close to it.

I also have a separate normal install of FF that I ran twice between moving ffp to usb and actually running ffp.

Any advice?

ps

Also, when I tell it to hide one of the extra toolbars, it shows it again when I reboot.

dont move it

Where did you install it initially?
All Apps (with few exceptions) are only portable if the path remains the same and only the first letter (=drive letter) changes. If you change the path, extensions will break and you might leave stuff behind. Its recommended to install it to the USB drive and use it from there.
Looks like your profile is pretty messed up. IMHO the best way is to do a fresh start and reinstall the extensions and such.

the same might

happen if you just install it to the stick to the defoult position and then move it just inside the stick to different folder. So it has nothing to do with moving from hd to stick or operating system, but all works only if kept on same path except the drive letter. Once moved outside the original path, most extensions will have to be reinstalled.
Portability here means not that the whole folder can be copied here and there, but if installed on a stick, you are free to move the stick to other computer and it will work there.
