Hello friends i have created an application Reg2Key.exe which extracts parent registry keys from a reg file. It extracts the keys that can be filled in portable application template.
It's setup will add a shorcut menu for registry files from where you can choose Extract parent keys and a text file will be generated of the same name as of reg file with all the parent registry keys that can be used in PAT !define Regkeys section.
I think it will help in creating portable applications with large registry entries.
please give a try to it and let me know how it works.

How can I uninstall this? It doesn't seem to do anything.

I do not get what this app is trying to do,
But all it's doing for me is installing it self into my 'windows\system32' folder. That can not be right !
Happily I ran it in sandboxie !
[edit: It could well be that there is nothing wrong with this, but people can not be careful enough. Probably I should have gotten a right-click option to 'Extract Parent Keys' but I didn't due to sandboxie !
Anyway, if you would include a source-code, it will give potential users a bit more trust]

If you want to uninstall it just delete it from windows\system32 folder and delete the registry key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\Extract Parent Keys" and everything just gone.
please don't be panic it is not any kind of virus or culprit. it just extract parent registry keys from a reg file. for best working don't install it in sandboxie however you can absolutely monitor its installation with total uninstall or regshot.
After installing it you will have to right click on a registry file (*.reg) and choose "Extract parent keys".
