I would like a launchy-like interface for the PortableApps platform. It could be launchy itself or a work-alike. I would like to be able to search/open/launch docs/apps with it, but also be able to manage the platform itself, i.e. update/backup/delete etc.
As soon as you have more than a menu or two of options or commands, a progressive search interface becomes more efficient, IMHO.
As in Launchy Portable found here? https://portableapps.com/node/23298

Sorry to be unclear. I don't want launchy, I already have launchy, and if you point it at the portablepps directory it WILL find the portable apps.
I find that the portableapps platform launcher itself is inconvenient, especially on a 1024x600 netbook. As you know, the current launcher is not resizable, isn't keyboard navigable AFAIK, and doesn't support submenus (not that I like cascades of dozens of submenus). The new version probably fixes some of those, but probably doesn't provide the following:
I would like to be able to type something like: Alt-Space-P-U to update PidginPortable, for example. Alt-Space-P-T-Tab to chat with Tony.
If I'm searching for a document, I want it to look in the portablapps directory
first.
Maybe a custom PortableApps launchy plugin would do it. I would guess that the platform developers would have to expose the application's interfaces in some way, maybe via NSIS, but I'm not a Windows programmer.

Honestly, as much as I don't like to tell people to move away from the PortableApps Menu, my advice would be if it's not cutting it for you, ditch it. I use many of the PortableApps themselves but the Menu application has many missing features that I want and need, so I use other software instead.
I'm sure the PA.c Menu is adequate for most average user's needs, but it's not for mine. There's a whole slew of alternatives of which I'm sure you're aware of many. I personally have settled on A-Suite for the time being, it seems to do everything I want it to do.
