Snes9x Portable 1.52 (fix 4) Development Test 1

Application: Snes9x
Category: Games
Description: Snes9x is a portable, freeware Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator. It basically allows you to play most games designed for the SNES and Super Famicom Nintendo game systems on your PC or Workstation; which includes some real gems that were only ever released in Japan.

Snes9x is the result of well over three years worth of part-time hacking, coding, recoding, debugging, divorce, etc. (just kidding about the divorce bit). Snes9x is coded in C++, with three assembler CPU emulation cores on the i386 Linux and Windows ports.

Release Notes:

Development Test 1 (2010-05-04): Initial release

This release includes OV2's patches to the 1.52 release which fixes several bugs in the official 1.52 release:

  • fix4:
  • -selecting "display messages before applying filters" prior to loading any rom could cause a crash
-hq4x and simple4x did not work correctly in DirectDraw and 32bit modes
-selecting filters with different scales for normal/hi-res modes caused incorrect message scaling
-the rom information window was always disabled

  • fix3:
  • -avi recording crashed on
    fix2:

-parts of the window stopped updating when previously covered by other windows (only in d3d mode)

  • fix1:
  • -display corruption in Super Metroid/Donkey Kong Country/... due to compiler optimization

I love this

I've had this emulator for awhile now but this is the first times i've seen this version in true p.a.f format. Its looks solid too. It supports a gamie genie that actually works, and it can play my roms. Looks like i'll be reburning my back dvd roms to include this new app. Thank you so much!! I've tested it and it works fine for windows 7 home edition, full admin rights. Blum

At the moment, drive letter

At the moment, drive letter switching doesn't work. This shouldn't be an issue to most users, as Snes9x accepts relative paths, which don't require drive letter switching and the default paths are set as relative paths (which is the reason I missed it before now). I'm pretty sure I've got it fixed, but I'm at home for the weekend, so I won't be able to update until some time next week. For now, just use the default paths (or if you know how to type relative paths, go ahead), but if you don't know how to determine a relative path, just leave the ROM/Save/etc folders set where they are and you won't have any problems.

Quamquam omniam nescio, nec nihil scio.
