Is there a way to make a little calendar/lightening shortcut like the one for the addressbook in thunderbird has? Or does the way lightening is an add-on not make it work out?

There is no support for it currently. But there is a bug report filed to add one. It's targeted for the 1.0 release of Lightning, but that could change.
