X-Setup

Not Freeware or Open Source ... technically. However, X-Setup is going defunct

They have a portable version and a serial number is given in the readme for the final version. Would this be a legit app to convert to portable app?

Interesting...

Apparently they intended for users to install X-Setup via the PortableApps.com utility. This is from the readme file included with their portable app download I got from Majorgeeks.com:

X-SETUP PRO PORTABLE WITH THE PORTABLEAPPS.COM PLATFORM

- Download and install PortableApps.com from https://portableapps.com/download
- You can choose any suite; this does not make any difference
- Install it on the USB stick by simply selecting the drive letter of your USB stick during installation
- Copy the folder "X-Setup" below the folder "PortableApps" (which was created by the PortableApps.com installer) on the USB stick
- If not already running, start PortableApps.com by executing "StartPortableApps" on the USB stick
- Click on "Options" -> "Refresh App Icons"
- X-Setup Pro Portable will appear in the menu

To update to a new version of X-Setup Pro simply delete the folder "X-Setup" *WITHOUT* deleting the subfolder \data since this folder contains your personal settings. Then simply copy the new "X-Setup" folder as described above.

To uninstall X-Setup Pro from your USB stick, simply delete the folder "X-Setup" and click on "Options" -> "Refresh App Icons"."

It is a crude hack-and-slash way to install, but that was the intent. I realize this is not the same as legally giving permission to offer in the normal fashion, but the net result is the same.

please be aware that this app is becoming outdated, as the company that made this went out of business in 2010, so this will be the last version.

It's a...
