When I start TB 3.x and do not select a message I get a start page (Welcome to Thunderbird....).
Is the a way for TB to show me the last message I read when I open it?

Tools, options, general, uncheck "show the start page".

With the unchecked "show start page" the pane is simply empty.

Maybe there is an add-on I don't know about...
I find it hard to believe that nobody came up with the idea. Don't get me wrong - TB is a great app and a great concept. The empty message pane is a minor, minor inconvenience. but still...
