If i wanted to build a torrent of the whole set of portable apps
1 is this considered "legal"
2 do i need to include any kind of "credits" file
3 would anybody like me to post a link to said torrent file??

1. No, this is not illegal as long as ALL files contained within are open source (pretty much everything here).
2. Of Course you need to include credits to John Haller and whomever converted the app, AND whoever developed the app.
3. No, no-one wants the link. If we want it, we can download it from portableapps.com with a much lesser risk than by torrenting, at a much faster speed and it is always up.
However if you do want to make a torrent, go for it. May I suggest you ask the people who converted the programs first? Copyright as I understand it does remain with them.

firefox and thunderbird, plus other mozilla apps and maybe some others must only be distributed as a un-modified .exe installer.
I presume that using a torrent is just a way of getting that file from multiple people in hoping that the download will go quicker. I'll stick with downloads from right here, myself.
