Just a reminder that in accordance with Microsoft's software lifecycle, all support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 end today. That means that neither Windows 2000 nor XP Service Pack 2 will receive any further bug fixes or security updates as of right now.
Windows XP Service Pack 2 users should immediately upgrade to Service Pack 3, which is a free upgrade.
Windows 2000 users should, realistically, upgrade to a supported OS. Of course, this may not be possible for many users due to hardware or financial reasons (there are approximately 8 million and falling Win2K users worldwide as of today). For those who can't upgrade, it's recommended to fully update your machine, disable any services you may not need (web server, etc), use up-to-date antivirus products and use a software firewall in addition to a router with network address translation to shield your computer from nasty things.
Note that this doesn't affect our plans at PortableApps.com as our platform and tools will continue to work on Windows 2000 and later (with the exception of apps which have dropped Windows 2000 support like GIMP, Google Chrome, SpyDLLRemover, etc).
As far as I understand, XP SP3 support ends either at the EOL for XP in 2013, or 2 years after SP4 if it releases, which is very unlikely.
Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

"... proving to everyone that we are operating on Valve Time..." - us
What a sad day. 2kPro was one of my favorite OS's ever!
But moving on! Just started using Win 7 Pro for the first time a few weeks ago, and love it.

I wondered why "Betsy" got hit with 38 updates last night.
