AbiWord: Spell Checker

Got tired of the open office suite...Loads way too slow and I only really needed a word processor, and I don't think that can be separated from the suite. So I turned to Abiword, very basic..however I've tried to get the spell check to work with no results. Any ideas out there?...Thanks Pappajohn
