Did not know where else to post.
What are the differences between Filezilla FTP and WinSCP? Why choose one over the other? What does PuTTy buy you? I've used Filezilla for many years and I do not understand if I am missing features, etc.
Thank you

Difference in FTP Clients?
Try each one and see what you like or don't like then decide what you want to do.

filezilla, I am using too , for just simple ftp transfer etc.
for some servers with full encrypted ftp traffic I have to use winscp or similar to allow me to log in.

I am not sure if there are any major differences between the two.
From the name "WinSCP" it might appear that the program would be specialized in dealing with secure transfers as "SCP" stands for "Secure Copy", and perhaps back in the early days of the program that would've stood out from the rest.
But I do not think that FileZilla would be missing any feature regarding secure connections at this point in time. At least, primarily I use FileZilla for SFTP connections, and never had any problems here.
It is also notable that FTP code of WinSCP comes from program FileZilla, as per contributions page.
Just like it's interface better. Also, it seemed easier to manipulate settings.

6 of one , half dozen of the other. I too have been using Filezilla for SFTP (even set up the Filezilla Server for it). I thought I might be missing features, et al, since WinSCP does use the Filezilla FTP backbone. Especially since WinSCP touts the use of PuTTy and I have never used it.
Filezilla is good & very easy to use.
