The future of my work with U3 apps is still a bit undecided. Far more people have non-U3 drives, so my time is best spent serving them... and all the standard apps run from a U3 drive without a hitch.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Kudos for your excellent work on portable apps. I just got the U3 USB drive this week. and have a newbie question. Is there a way to have portable gaim show up in the program manager? Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, I am at a customer site, and internet access is limited. Thanks in advance,

The U3 Launchpad isn't customizable and only works with U3 apps, unfortunately. It is possible to hack it in. A couple of folks have talked about it in the forums. I don't really recommend that as if you corrupt the files that manage your apps in U3, they all stop working through the Launchpad.
