The Java plugin for Firefox is closed source (so we can't alter it) and only supports a local install of Java.

I assume then that there is still no way to view java pages with the portable apps then?
There is currently no legal way to carry Java and Firefox portably and have them work together without administrative rights on each PC you encounter.
