Is the new Thunderbirg Calendar also Portable? If I click the install will it install it as a portable app or do I need to go elsewhere to get the portable version?

Do you mean the Lightning extension which is now recommended instead of the old Sunbird Calendar application?
It is supported as an addon for portable Thunderbird. The (now outdated) Sunbird portable is available here too (Applications-Office).
