Firefox Flash Updating Help Needed Please

There is a new FLASH version out, version Flash Player 10.1.82.76. But whatever I try to do to update FLASH in portableapps Firefox, it keeps showing that I have Flash Version: You have version 10,1,53,64 installed.

How on Earth can I update FLASH to 10.1.82.76?

I tried following the steps in another thread but NONE of the steps work!

Any help updating FLASH please?

after you copy

the file NPSWF32.dll

from the position system32\macromed\flash

to
FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

check the properties of the file, it should give you the actual version ...82 something.

I noticed, that when copying files under w7, it will ask you if you want keep the old file too or overwrite it etc. So make sure you overwrite the old file and the only version is the current one in the plugins folder.

Restart FF and check in the extras-addons-plugins that the version is right.

Works perfect on my side, provided there is no older file of flash in the folder or in the plugin folder under firefox itself!

not portable

if you take the portable firefox, go to adobe and install the flash, then the flash is installed locally, that means the files are put into system32\macromed\flash.
The appropriate entries are made to registry, so any firefox will be able to find it.

The firefox will look for the plugin first in its own folders, then in the rest of the machine, using registry entries if needed.

If you want install the flash for the *portable firefox*, so it will have flash also when connected to a computer which has no flash, copying the file into the firefox data folder on your stick is absolutely essential. There is no shortcut or bypass to it.

In your case the portable firefox is using local installation of flash. Therefore it will work only on your computer at home and not on other place.

OK thanks. I copied the file

OK thanks. I copied the file NPSWF32.dll to my portableapps firefox plugin folder.

So it only needs that one file and now portableapps can use flash?

yes

the flash function for the firefox is only this one file.

The other files are not essential, they contain other helper functions. Example: something will have to contact adobe time to time and check if there is newer version avaiable then the one installed and then some dialog should be displayed to the user. But this has nothing to do with real flash function.

Then got to: [Link to illegal software redistribution removed - mod Chris]
Download 3 files: flashplayer.xpt np_gp.dll and NPSWF32.dll
Copy those 3 files in the plugins folder and restart your firefox.
This was tested to work with firefox version 3.6.8 Enjoy
