FirefoxPortable not working from flash drive

I love PortableFirefox and use it heavily.

I was glad to see the new release. Smile

I ran the extractor setup from this Web site, and coped my 1.0.2 \profile folder from my flash drive to the new Data\profile folder. I updated my extensions and everything ran fine.

Then I copied the FirefoxPortable folder back to my flash drive (an A-data PD2-1G0) and tried running FirefoxPortable. The splash screen appears but nothign happened. I waited 5 minutes. Nothing happened.

Firefox.exe is running, but the program never loads. I killed firefox.exe in task manager. I tried again, and it loaded, but in safe mode -no extensions, no themes.

The copy of FirefoxPortable on my desktop works fine.

What's wrong?

maybe some extensions do not

maybe some extensions do not want to work ... try to install on as much as you are able on pure Firefox Portable (without extensions)

Fresh install

Yeah, I've had this happen a couple times; the splash screen comes up, but the program never takes off.

If you drill into the PFF files, which on my flash drive looks like this:
J:\PortableFirefox\PortableFirefoxCode

and click on the PFF icon in THERE, the program loads properly. Try that.

What I have found is that once you get it running, it keeps running; you should then be able to use the PFF icon OUTSIDE the PFFCode folder to load it.

Lemme know if it wrks for you!

Uhhh... the "PFF icon" in PortableFirefoxCode is a .ico file. There are no executables in that folder.

Oops- Sorry.

Looks like I surfed to the wrong folder- D'oh!

On my falshdrive:
J:\PortableFirefox\firefox >Click the application icon

Open the app, close it, then surf back to the first icon in the main folder
J:\PortableFirefox\ and click the main link.

Hey- I can only tell you it worked for me without re-installing or re-imorting anything.

running

running J:\PortableFirefox\(APP)\firefox\firefox.exe
will result in creating registry entries and profile files in documents and settings - that's why we use FirefoxPortable.exe

Yeah, what SHADOW-XIII said. If you run firefox.exe instead of FirefoxPortable.exe, Firefox will use a local profile (as in, one stored on your computer). You have to run FirefoxPortable.exe if you want it to use the portable settings.
