Windows home server= PUKE!

To try and get some use out of our dusty xbox 360, we won it and it sat there for so long. as it is typical MS snot poor on every front. we have all mac and linux and noone here likes or can be bothered with Mico-dicks attitude to computers. In a moment of weakness I downloaded Windows Vail Home Server. the w@nker on MS chat told me it was the best ever?.

Well I tried it and puppy linux or dos would make a better home server!!!. Microsoft needs to give up on....... well.... everything nothing they ever do is any good AT ALL!!! I mean shouldn't a "HOME" "SERVER" be easy to setup and use for end users with not much know-how? and if it can't work with mac, linux or an xbox 360 without an other windows computer on th network what is the point in that.

anyway.. WinDOZE make two short planks look like teltra!!!!

I do not have a clue...

though the original post needs a lot of punctuation fixes. The only thing I get is that he is very anti-Microsoft...

Don't be Roo-de

He does say in his profile that he is in the process of, or has gone back to school (time frame is unclear). So perhaps his level of education is such that he is not able to adequately express himself at the moment. Thus, under these circumstances we might grant a small measure of leniency with regard to the incoherent nature of his rant.

Having said that the anti-Microsoft sentiment is clear, so why would someone of such persuasion be coming to a (predominantly) Windows-based community site? Pardon

P.S. I know nothing about the X-Box, aren't they just a glorified PC (essentially the hardware is the same)? So if that's true then I suppose theoretically you could run Windows software on them, all depends what the OS is. The thought of running portable apps on an Atari 2600 is quite amusing though... if only it had a USB port! Smile

Never intended to be rude,

Though I could be if I didn't take age into consideration.. Now I'm dying to edit my previous post, which I cannot do now.

i guess you will have to blame me

i guess you will have to blame me for making it so you could not edit your post :D.

BTW could you explain your post by replying to your OP making it clear what you where doing and what flustrated you. there is a misconceptio that you where installing Windows Server onto an xbox 360. this cannot be done for several reasons..

1. the 360 runs a modified PowerPC processor similar to the wii.
2. the file system is Xfat

the original xbox was indeed a modified computer. it ran a celeron processor and was thus x86. also the controlers where just a rearranged USB.

Switcheroo!

That's interesting, so Apple ditched the Motorola PowerPC and moved over to x86, and apparently the XBox did the opposite. Pardon

WRONG

Apple ditched Motorola and went with IBM when the PPC went from 32 to 64 bit. all of the G5 computers use an IBM made PPC processor and half the G4 processors where IBM. the thing with apple is they had a deal that the PPC processors would clock over 3GHz after a certian period of time. the PPC processors still dont and the fastest G4 was around 2.5ghz even though it was a quad processor dualcore 64 bit.

for example i have a Mac at home and this is the only processor upgrades i can do.http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?sort=pop&model=159&type=Pro...

It totaly sucks seeing as i can buy a used mac for the same price Sad

Anotehr thing. the PPC coalition was known as AIM. Apple Ibm Motorola.

Motorola no longer makes processors. their microprocessor division was spun off onto Freescale. They made 69k processors for TI 89 and voyagers as well as some of the older Palm's. to be exact a lot of your heavy duty printers now a days use or have a PowerPC processor in them. some of the fastest supercomputers also use a PowerPC.

There is a new PPC processor that will be interchangeable with AMD's Opteron processors. this means if you set one of those nice server boards you may be able to exchange the Opteron 6 core for a IBM CELL :3.

thats the end of this tyrade.
