Release Notes:

2010-09-11:

  • Updated launcher to 2.2.0.0
  • 6.0.472.55 Stable/Beta, 7.0.517.0 Dev, and introducing 7.0.521.0 Canary
  • Now Chrome is run in Chrome-SxS mode, which deactivates the "Set as default browser" feature to make it more portable-friendly. As a side effect the about dialog will always say "canary" and the window icon will be the Chrome Canary icon. To turn this off, comment out the CHROMESXSMODE define in the launcher NSI and recompile.
  • Tweaked and updated help.
  • Updated to PA.c Installer 2.0.3.
  • Added support for PortableApps.com AppCompactor (Chrome should work now if you use PAcAC on it).
  • Fixed thumbnails not showing up on the very first new tab page with a new profile.

New features

This has new features for the launcher which, if they all work properly, will be going in the next release. I would say that it was a choice of waiting for the next release to make a DT (Dan: I think it should be a PR as the app has been released), or making a DT which happened to feature the same version of Chrome as the current official version. It's very sensible to do it now, then the features can be put into the next release without another testing cycle.

Sorry for the confusion. The

Sorry for the confusion.

The official releases that appear on the front page are compiled by John Haller, based off of my Development Builds that I post here. I added a few small things over the last official release, even though the Chrome version numbers are the same.

Remove the "Local State" file

You should remove the "Local State" file from the "DefaultData" directory
so that Google Chrome can detect the screen resolution of the user
and adapt to it.

Currently, Google Chrome starts with the window size you last used. Wink

I recreated the defaultdata

I recreated the defaultdata and may have left some extra files in there that didn't need to be in there... there's a few glitches that come from recreating those files or importing Chrome 6 profiles into Chrome 7 I was trying to address. Smile

From its contents it looks like the Local State file can be safely removed so I'll do that for the next release, thanks.

New features?

What are these new features? Is it better than the release? I haven't downloaded, so I haven't had time to explore the source code.

And on chrome itself:
I find 7.x portable probably the fastest browser (other than OB1, but I don't have that no more) I have on my flash drive. And I have FFP 3, 4 beta 3, Opera, SeaMonkey, TheWorld, Flock, Midori, Safari (obviously not from here) and Chrome 6 and 7. (It feels good to have an arsenal of web browsers). I don't know what improvements they've made, but it runs a hellofa lot better now than the first chrome.

Compare, you cannot.

I don't think OB1 counts since it doesn't have a JavaScript engine. (that I know of)
