Today I opened FireFox & was immediately informed there was an update availabe. I am wondering if this update is from Mozilla or from portable apps. Can anyone say how we should do these? I have looked over the portable apps site but did not find the info listed.

the update is from mozilla, however just ignore it, this is because using the internal updater will cause your firefox portable become borked (as in become not portable) you best bet is to go to https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable and get your updates through there, this way it ensures your settings remain portable and that you get the latest version.

Zach is correct, the update is from Mozilla.
Though, you can use the auto-update feature of Mozilla Firefox since V3.6 without causing any issues. Feel free (if you're using at least 3.6) to use the auto-updater and update to the latest. You can also wait and install manually as Zach stated above. If you auto-updated and would still like to update to the latest from us, you can install over the current version without issues.
