Synergy - again!

Yes it's only been 2 years since the call went out for a Synergy PA. This is the app allows the user to take over a nearby visible Synergy-equipped machine, the mouse being scrolled onto the new box and so making the host's mouse and keyboard usable on it.

My idea is that it would be useful to have such a prog on a USB stick to be stuck in a customer's machine to link with an equipped workshop machine. This would allow one to run the customer's machine from a familiar keyboard and mouse and simplify copy and pasting between the machines (another of Synergy's skills).

It was opined in 2008 that it was inherently ill-suited to Portability as it needed a file of other Synergy equipped machines. This is true but easily overcome by entering the new machine's name in the 2 Synergys' .conf/.sgc files. A job taking about 20 seconds.

User 'laconix' claimed to have made a working Synergy PA but it was encased in Filedropper and then, it seems, removed from it. Is this still around and available as a binary?

Here is a link to the site:

I'll take a look at it if I have time.

I have also been looking

I have also been looking everywhere and cannot find it as portable.
Came across the 2008 post (Alpha 2) but it is not available to download anymore.

We would appreciate if this app was made portable so I can run this on a restricted machine.

Works as a client

I'm sure more than a few people figured this out already but I like to just search google and get my answers and this is one of the top pages returned so to help others:

I've done no testing with the server (which may work too, but doesn't sound very logical to what most people would use this for) but if you just copy your synergy folder from program files to a usb stick, run "synergy.exe" click advanced and give it a screen name (make sure to configure it on the server) then enter the server name in "use another computer's..." and finally click start. It should work

Synergy is one of the most awesome free apps I've ever seen:

FWIW using version 1.3.1 of synergy (I don't even think it's Synergy+ but I think that would work as well.

Additionally it seems to store it's values in registry so it's "portability" in some environments will be limited.
