SRWare Iron

Would love to see SRWare Iron as a PA. I am already using the portable version but would be fantastic to see it as PA so that automatic updates would be available with the upcoming new PA platform. Smile

Already done

I've already got a Development Test of Iron Portable here: https://portableapps.com/node/22380

I'm still trying to get portable passwords working, but Iron Portable should be ready for release once I finish with that.

To tide myself over...

I got the official Portable version. I'm not entirely keen on Dev versions of things.
I don't guess my settings and stuff can be transfered over to the PA version, but if it can, How?
(Only relevant for me when it comes out of dev, I guess)
Here's the official DL link I found for anyone who wants to try it out while waiting, it's in German, but Chrome translated it for me, it's "> Download Portable

Don't worry about the "Dev" label

Don't worry about the "Dev" label. Iron Portable is technically not even a dev release anymore.
Iron Portable has been in development since January and has gotten plenty of testing and use. I use it myself on a regular basis (read: daily) and have never had a problem with it.
The latest dev build has been signed off on by SRWare, Chris Morgan, John, and myself. It's rock-solid, to the point that John gave me the official splash screen. As I've said multiple times, the only thing holding the release back is the portable passwords DLL. That's nearly done, I just have to fix five elusive errors (two errors, really, I just have four instances of one error) and test it.

You can transfer your settings from the "official" portable version to the PortableApps version very easily, actually. Just make sure Iron Portable isn't running, then copy your profile folder into Data\IronPortableData.

ETA?

You have an ETA on this? I'd like to get it out as soon as you get the last bits fixed.

Tentatively, Thursday or Friday

I don't want to make a firm commitment, since the errors are pretty elusive (one in particular is baffling me: MinGW says RtlSecureZeroMemory is defined multiple times, but I know for a fact it's not. In fact, I had to define it myself because the def wasn't included in the MinGW header files). I can probably be done by Thursday or Friday, though.

MinGW?

MinGW? What changes are you making? Nothing in Iron should be changed at all from the official release. Only our launcher should be changed. If need be, just base it off the Google Chrome launcher (which, in all honestly, will probably be easier anyway).

Not Iron, Portable Passwords

I'm not making any changes to Iron, but Portable Passwords needs some work. It appears that Chrome/Iron's database structure has changed since Portable Passwords was written, so just switching launchers probably wouldn't help at this point.
