I know its not always as simple as dragging and dropping,or changing the install folder.SO when I download and install the new updates do I just point it to
X:\PortableApps\vlcportable
and install?
the documentation isnt very specific

To upgrade to a newer version of VLC Portable, just install a new copy over the old one.

If so, you can use the platform to do the installation, and it will always be correct. You just need to choose the correct option from the right side of the menu.
While it's slightly different in the newest version of the platform, it's still easy:
For PortableApps Platform 2.0 beta 5: Choose Manage Apps>Install a New App, and browse for your paf.exe file.
For PortableApps Platform BEFORE 2.0 beta 5: Choose Options>Install a New App, and browse for your paf.exe file.
It will automatically install to the correct spot.
