(thank you to depp.jones for pointing out that it had a registry entry)
Development Test 1 (2010-10-29): Initial release
You need to follow the standards; put it as a Development Test, with the correct DisplayVersion and the right forum topic layout.

This is freeware. Are you the developer, or do you have permission from the developer to post this?

I didn't look any further after I saw:
i put that on any programs i make that are open source(it avoids problems with other ppl).
I tested it and it seems to do the job. I backed up and restored my portable firefox settings and it all worked fine afterwards.
It leaves a registry entry in HKCU though (folder "Mozilla Backup" under software).
thanks for the input, ill look into the registry stuff and see if its something necessary for the app or if i can outright delete it(i hadnt thought it used any registry settings)
Are you still doing this? Otherwise someone could pick it up as the program is quite useful, especially when working with different installations.
yes i am still developing this, unfortuanatly shortly after my last post i ended up haveing some RL issuse up to and including moving across the country and finding a new job. some time in the next 2-3 weeks i will be updating this with the newest version of mozbackup, as well as removing the registry entry(ies) found before my hiatius.
EDIT: ok, make that by the end of the week. i thought that there were more entries there the one mentioned. the entry is used by the program to give it the default Saveto/LoadFrom directory, and as such i will be adding an entry for the program to use the documents directory that PA.C Platform creates. any objections?
ok, as of 2115 EST on Friday April 8th, 2011 MozBackup Portable Devlopment Test up to the second release. with this second release the registry that depp.jones pointed out has been fixed so that it removes its self, and the program has been updated to version 1.5.1(the latest and greatest available as of this writing). Quick FYI for those of you actually following this....i do consider this RC1.
PLEASE if you test this post back. even posts about no errors and the program working perfectly help me as i can determine if the portable version is ready to leave the beta/alpha stage.
Thank you all for your help and support in advanced.

I downloaded MozBackup Portable 1.5.1 Developmental Test 2, but number of the test is 1 in the file name (MozBackUpPortable_1.5.1_Developmental_Test_1_English.paf). A misspelling, I suppose.
Installation successful, program works perfectly. I backed up a Firefox 4.0.1 settings from a Windows XP Professional and restored it into another Firefox 4.0.1, this one in Windows 7 Home Premium. None of the Fxs are portable.
Sorry about the english.
now that i think about it i am not sure if i need to increase the DT number when i increase the original program version or not.
If the original program is updated, the development test version goes back to 1. Note that the pacakgeVersion number in appinfo.ini should still allow for updating once this goes official. I'm on my phone, so don't have links handy, but see my previous comments on how to do this.
